Kurumbar Community

We are the descendants of the Pallavas who created the world-famous Mahabalipuram sculptures found near Chennai. Our community is also known as the Kurumans, Kurumbar, Kurumba and Kuruba. Our popular surnames include Gounder, Gowder, Heggade and Naiker.
